Please join us on Thursday, November 5th for a Community Speaker Series in-person event at the Hinsdale Middle School cafeteria.
David Murray on “Soccer Dad: Helping Children Find Their Passion and Excel Without Steering, Pushing, and Smothering”
David Murray is a soccer-ignorant, sports-ambivalent writer who saw his daughter from the kiddie leagues, through the travel soccer gauntlet and the college athletics recruiting process, to a coveted Division I scholarship. And then realized his work had only begun. On that journey, David contends with some of the essential questions facing parents of young athletes or any child focused on excelling in a competitive discipline: How do you guide without steering, motivate without pushing, and protect without smothering? And how do you learn from other parents their good instincts and their bad? Join us as David Murray discusses these topics in a conversation with District 181 Superintendent Dr. Jim Wipke.

HMS New Lunch Tables Fundraiser Update #3

We have received pledges from 105 generous families, totaling $22,950! At this time, we have enough money pledged to fund the lunchroom tables! Pledge contributions are now closed.
If you have pledged for this campaign, now is the time to submit your donations to ensure we are able to order, receive, and install the tables on time. To donate, please either Zelle to treasurer@hmspto.org, or drop off a check made out to HMS PTO to the HMS Front Office, with a memo “Lunch Tables” for either option. To date, of the total pledged, $12,195 in donations have been submitted to HMS PTO.

The directory is only as strong as our community’s input, so please consider submitting providers who have made a positive impact on your student. Leaving a quick review takes just a couple of minutes and makes a meaningful difference for other parents searching for care and academic support.
PTO General Meeting with Cory, Kory, and Dr. Wipke!

Save the Date! Join your HMS PTO at the next PTO General Meeting on November 6 at 9:00am in the MRC. We'll be joined by Principal Cory Burke, Vice Principal Kory Kliebert, and our new D181 Superintendent, Dr. Jim Wipke. The PTO General Meetings are your opportunities to meet your fellow parents, get updates on HMS activities and initiatives, and learn more about all of the great ways the PTO and the school supports our students. We look forward to seeing you there!
Additional PTO meetings during the 2026-2027 school year will be held at 9:00 am on the following dates: January 15, March 12, and May 14. More details to come!
If you haven’t already, please join or renew your PTO membership. In addition to the fact that you must be a paid PTO member to attend meetings and volunteer, your PTO membership fee goes directly to our operating budget and allows us to support our students and teachers.
