March 20th Restaurant Day at Jimmy John’s

Mark your calendar to order from Jimmy John’s on March 20th from 10am-8pm! For every sandwich ordered at their location, 777 N York Road, Hinsdale location, Jimmy John’s will donate to the HMS PTO.

8th Grade Yard Sign Distribution Help

Looking for volunteers to help distribute yard signs for our graduating 8th graders. This is a fun project and the kids love having the signs appear in their yards celebrating their success. All that is needed is some time at the end of May to distribute. Please email Kristin Kentra at [email protected] if interested and more details will be provided.

WWII Day- A Huge Success!!

The annual WWII Day event for 8th graders last Friday was a huge success! It was a special day for all involved including the 8th grade class, teachers, volunteers, and of course our honorary guests-the WWII Veterans. They shared their unforgettable stories and were so proud to do so! Thank you to the families who shared their personal artifacts for display.

This event would not have been possible without the help from our PTO WWII chair Stephanie Konieczka and Mr. Dusek. If you are interested in being co-chair next year, then chairing the following year, please contact [email protected].

WWII Volunteers Needed

March 10th is our annual WWII Day event for 8th graders. It is a special day for all involved, and everyone who has ever volunteered says it’s a day they won’t forget.
Please consider helping the WWII Day Committee during the school day on March 10th (ANY volunteer time is much appreciated). Your job will be easy, rewarding and will involve pampering our WWII Veterans and guests. Join our special guests in conversation in our exhibit or during our catered lunch. You’ll never forget their stories or their joy in sharing with you.

8th Grade Graduation Pictures

HMS 8th grade students will have the opportunity to be photographed in graduation gowns, holding a cap (both supplied by the photographer), in two poses on Thursday, March 9th. They will miss a short period of time from their social studies classes during the day to have their pictures taken. Proofs will be sent to HMS about a week later to be distributed to students to bring home. Purchases are optional and you may choose to get notified via text (text 9643 to 815-323-6095) when your images are ready to review or use your email address at shop.hrimaging.com to view and/or purchase.

Traditionally, boys have worn shirts and ties under the gowns and girls have worn any type of non-bulky top. Student will hold a graduation cap while wearing the gown for the photographs. If any student is unable to be photographed on this date, a makeup/retake date is scheduled for Thursday, April 13th.

Students are also photographed during the graduation ceremony crossing the stage receiving their diploma. Those photographs are also made available for purchase.
