Wellness House Walk, 5/7

The HMS PTO would love for you to join us on May 7th at the Walk for Wellness House and to share our team link with others that might be interested in joining us as well. The entire family is welcome to sign up. There are 3k walk and 5k Walk/Run options. Each D181 school will have their own team and we would like to have the most participants including students, staff and families!

The HMS team will be walking in support of those in our community affected by cancer. For those that aren’t familiar with the Wellness House, they are in Hinsdale and provide support services to those living with cancer and their families/friends/caregivers free of charge.

Gather for the Garden is this Thursday!

We are just a few days away from our HMS Fundraiser: Gather for the Garden which will be held this Thursday, April 20th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Casa Margarita in Hinsdale! We are excited to share that our silent auction site is live! There are incredible items including once-in-a-lifetime trips, sports memorabilia, and music collectibles. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5th

It takes a village to raise a child, THANK YOU to the 100+ HMS teachers/staff for being part of that village!! Parents, here’s one last chance to show our gratitude during National Teacher Appreciation Week. Please consider donating snacks & drinks to stock the staff lounge all week long. Safe space: Managing school, friends, and stress

Description: Are you a middle school girl who is feeling overwhelmed balancing school, friends, and stress? The Community House is offering a counseling group to help process the impact of life’s stressors. The goal of this group is to provide a space for members to connect with a peer network and reflect on stress they may be feeling. Members can also expect to learn how to develop coping skills to better manage school, friends, and stress. Participants can enroll through April 20. See FLYER for details.

Location criteria: Participants must be a middle school girl residing in one of the following eight communities: Hinsdale, Willowbrook, Burr Ridge, Downers Grove, Clarendon Hills, Westmont, Oak Brook, and Darien.
When: Tuesdays, 6-7:15 p.m.
Duration: April 18 – May 30; Participants may enroll through April 20.

LOST & FOUND

Parents, please remind your children to retrieve their lost items from the overflowing HMS lost and found locations. You are also welcome to come view the items in person. There are shelves and clothing racks outside the gymnasium with so many water bottles, lunch bags/boxes, as well as shoes, outerwear and other clothing. In the cabinets under the grade level cubbies in the main foyer entrance, books, pencil cases, personal school items, agendas, headphones, and much more are waiting to be claimed. We remind our students to check these areas during morning announcements often. All items will be donated at year end.

Parent Event with Chris Singleton: Tues., 4/18

The D181 Foundation in Partnership with the CHMS and HMS PTO’s invite you to attend an evening with Chris Singleton on Tuesday, April 18th at 7pm at the HMS cafeteria, as he presents, Love Your Neighbor. Chris will share his story in hopes of uniting millions of people with his belief that, “Love is Stronger Than Hate.” REGISTRATION is required for this event. Learn more about Chris in our FLYER.
