Lisa Damour, Ph.D offers guidance to adults on how to help teens open up, and how to keep teens from being overwhelmed by their emotions or feeling at the mercy of their moods. She provides concrete strategies for dealing with teens arguments, risk-taking, emerging romantic lives, friendships, social media and more.

At this time we are in need of pictures for cross country, girls/boys basketball, Washington DC, and 8th grade baby pictures (one per student please). If you would like to submit pictures for consideration to the yearbook staff please follow the directions below:

High School Course Selection Counseling

Please join us this Wednesday, January 18th at 7 pm for an enlightening Zoom presentation and discussion with Kim Anderson, founder of Spotlight College Advising.

Kim will cover everything from making wise choices when mapping out your 4-year curriculum plan for high school, the current college admissions landscape and factors for admission. She will cover maximizing your child’s odds of college admission and minimizing your costs down the road . The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes with an additional 15 minutes for Q&A.

All 6th, 7th and 8th grade HMS families are welcome to join the presentation. Sign up in advance HERE.  You will be sent a Zoom link on January 18th.

Nominating Committee Needed

The PTO is looking for parent volunteers to help with our nominating committee. Duties include coming up and discussing potential candidates to fill empty committee and executive board roles on the PTO 2023/2024 school year. Meeting are held for the remainder of this CURRENT school year. We are looking for parents who represent the different elementary schools in hopes to reach a variety of parents that may have not volunteered in the past.
