Jamil Zaki
The War for Kindness
Building Empathy in a Fractured World
October 5, 2021 – 7:00-8:30 PM

Jamil Zaki is a professor of psychology at Stanford University and the director of the Stanford Social Neuroscience Lab. Using tools from psychology and neuroscience, he and his colleagues examine how empathy works and how people can learn to empathize more effectively.

In The War for Kindness, he weaves together the latest science with engaging real-world stories, offering us a revolutionary perspective on empathy and how to develop it as a skill. He shows that kindness is not a sign of weakness but a source of strength. With warmth, wit and straightforward exercises that can be swiftly implemented, Zaki shows audiences of all ages how to change their professional, student, creative and personal relationships for the better.

Picture Make-up Retake Day October 7th

HMS PICTURE MAKE-UP & RETAKE DAY
Thursday, October 7, 2021

All HMS students will have the opportunity to either have their picture taken for the first time or retake their picture taken on Picture Day in September.

If an order was placed and a picture packet was received, this will need to be given to the photographer on October 7th during the retake.

No order forms are necessary for first time pictures and student photographs can be viewed and ordered online at shop.hrimaging.com. If a paper order is preferred, they are available in the school office to mail individually.

We look forward to seeing our Spartans bring their biggest smiles on October 7th!

The Parent List is Urgently in Need of Reviews

Please help us keep this 7-year-old community-based resource up to date during a time when our children’s well-being is crucial. Leaving an anonymous review takes less than five minutes. We value your time and support!

The Parent List contains first-hand insight from parents about providers that have helped address their child’s anxiety, depression, school avoidance, eating disorders, insomnia, peer relations, grief, stress, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum, and more.

Much like Angie’s List, The Parent List relies on consumer feedback. New reviews are needed to keep the list current, as many reviews have been removed due to longevity.

Doctors, therapists, support groups, inpatient and outpatient programs, nutritionists, books and holistic medical approaches may all be reviewed on The Parent List. Your help is deeply appreciated!
