Reception for New Superintendent
On behalf of the Board of Education, please join us in welcoming our new superintendent, Dr. Hector Garcia, to Community Consolidated School District 181 at a reception on Monday, March 12 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Prospect School, 100 N Prospect Ave, Clarendon Hills.

Dr. Garcia was appointed at the Feb. 26 Board of Education meeting and will begin July 1. He brings honed leadership skills, an in-depth knowledge of finance, facilities, and curriculum and instruction, as well as a collaborative, student-centered mindset to D181, characteristics that the D181 community – parents, staff and residents – identified as needed for success in a superintendent. The Board is looking forward to a long and productive relationship with Dr. Garcia and is eagerly anticipating his July start. Light refreshments will be served. The Board of Education meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

World Changer Award Nominations
The March 23 deadline to submit nominations for the District 181 World Changer Awards is fast approaching. World Changer Awards is a program conducted in conjunction with the D181 Foundation designed to recognize truly exceptional work of D181 staff members that was so impactful it “changed the world” of a student, colleague, family, or the community at large in a positive and deeply meaningful way. Any staff member of District 181 is eligible to receive a “World Changer Award,” including part-time employees. Exceptions include the Superintendent, Director of Communications, and previous award winners.

Nominations may be submitted by any District 181 stakeholder, including parents, students, staff, residents, and local employees and volunteers. An employee cannot nominate himself/herself. Nominations must be made via the official online form at www.d181.org. Click on “Our District” and then on “World Changer Awards.” Up to 10 winners will be selected by a committee from all nominations. The Awards will be presented May 21.
