The HMS PTO recently made a $15,000 contribution to District 181 to help fund enhancements to the new Fine, Performing and Applied Arts and Sciences classes (currently known as Encore) being offered next fall at HMS. Students electing to take Digital Media, Applied Technology & Design (formerly Applied Tech); Design Lab; Foods, Nutrition & Wellness and Sewing Design & Application will all notice significant updates and improvements to the curriculum.
The PTO also approved almost $4,700 for the purchase of the following items requested by HMS staff through the PTO’s Future Funds program:
• 16 PocketLab Voyager Sensor Kits requested by the Science department
• 10 Breakout EDU Kits requested by the World Languages and Science departments
• 1 Sand Tray Table and Supplies requested by Student Support Services
• 10 Graphing Calculators requested by the Math department
We would like to thank all of our families who participated in fundraising this year! Your efforts have enabled us to make these contributions totaling almost $20,000 to enrich the learning opportunities of our HMS students next year. Because of your support in our first ever Trivia Night, the annual Book Fair, Spirit Wear purchases, Spartan Shack sales, Vern Goers Plant Sale, Box Tops, and/or the India Hicks online event, you have been a big part in the fundraising success for our students and teaching staff!
