FINDING CURES. SAVING CHILDREN. That is the mission of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Based in Memphis, Tennessee with affiliates in eight states, including Illinois, St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Starting February 12, HMS math students will participate in the St. Jude Math-a-thon to raise money for the children who receive treatment at St. Jude. All HMS students will receive a math-a-thon booklet to complete. Students will then get pledges for the number of problems they do, the number of problems completed correctly, or a one-time donation. There are prize incentives for the students as well. Over the past 22 events, HMS has raised over $130,000 for St. Jude. Last year HMS ranked 87th in the country for our donations with a total of $8759!
