Volunteer Opportunities: 2020-2021

This school year may be wrapping up, but we are already starting to plan for next year and we need your help! If you are interested in becoming more involved at HMS by leading one of the committees below, or if you have any questions about the committees, please contact Karin Rohn at president@hmspto.org. We would love your help!

World War II Day – One co-chair needed – World War II Day is one of the highlights of the 8th-grade year and we are sure you will enjoy being a part of this inspiring event. It is a one-day event in the spring when we invite veterans of World War II to share their amazing stories with our 8th graders.

Gardening – With the completion of the parking garage we will finally be able to focus on beautifying the grounds of our new school. We are looking for a committee chair to take care of purchasing/planting/decorating seasonal pots and/or planters at the new HMS building, including the roof garden

Fort Nightly – Starting next year, this fun tradition (six-week course of ballroom dancing classes for 8th graders) will be led by the Community House and facilitated by HMS and CHMS PTOs. Chairs will need to assist with class lists, registration, and sign up genius forms for parent volunteers.

Spiritwear – We are looking for two chairs for this committee, which is in charge of ordering and selling HMS spirit wear at school events like Curriculum Night, 5th grade Welcome, Back to School Day, and more.

Lost and Found – We are looking for a committee chair to periodically organize and donate items left at school.

School Supplies – We are looking for a co-chair to work with teachers and vendors to put together school supply packages for families to purchase online.

Future Funds – We are looking for a co-chair to evaluate funding requests submitted by teachers and staff twice a year.

PTO E-Blast – We are seeking a co-chair that will create and facilitate this communication on a bi-weekly basis.

Social Media Chair – We are looking for a committee chair to manage posts on the PTO’s Facebook page and other social media accounts, as needed.
