8th Grade Washington DC Trip Forms Due

If your 8th grader will be going to Washington D.C. this November and you have not yet submitted his or her Medication Authorization Form, you need to do so as soon as possible. Medication Authorization Forms can be turned in to Mrs. Fetty in Room 226, or dropped in her mailbox in the main office. Please contact Mrs. Fetty with any questions.

Every parent/guardian should have received an email to verify your information from AtoZ Directory. This information will be published in the printed directory as well as the online directory (with the exception of student’s phone numbers, which are not required and will not be published.) The AtoZ Directory app is available for both Apple and Android users.

Please take the time to verify that the information is correct. You can update your information online at this time. Please email directory@hmspto.org if you do not want to have your information printed and/or in the online directory.
The DEADLINE for verifying your information is Friday, September 21.

The printed directory and online access is included in your HMS PTO Membership. Access to the online directory will be unavailable to non members. It is not too late to register for the HMS PTO.

Devorah Heitner Presentation for Middle School Parents

Raising children in this digital age has its challenges. While technology brings many advantages to our daily life, it can be hard to help our children navigate a world so digitally connected. With support from the District 181 Foundation and both CHMS and HMS PTOs, Dr. Devorah Heitner will be providing a special presentation for parents on October 4 at 7:00p.m. entitled Screenwise: Raising Middle School Children in the Digital AgeThe presentation is open to the community and will be hosted at CHMS. Dr. Heitner’s visit to District 181 will also include separate presentations to middle school staff on October 4, and to students at both CHMS and HMS on October 5.

Calling All 8th Grade Parents!
If your child is considering attending Hinsdale Central High School, please plan to attend one of two events to learn more about the transition to high school.
Monday, October 29th, 7PM at CHMS
Tuesday, November 13th, 7PM at HMS

Principal Bill Walsh, Assistant Principal Jessica Hurt, and Director of Guidance Jennifer Regnier will lead the presentation.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 11th from 7-9 pm at Il Poggiolo for an casual night out to get to know other 6th grade parents. We will have some special guests – Ruben Pena and Rocky May – as well as some of the 6th grade teachers.

Interested in Running for the D86 Board of Education in the April 2019 Election

The D86 Caucus is looking for candidates for the Board of Education for the spring 2019 election. The caucus is a non-political group of volunteers representing each of the elementary schools that feed into both Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central who have come together to identify and endorse candidates for the D86 Board of Education. To learn more about running for the Board of Education, click here to view resources provided by the Illinois Association of School Boards.  For more information about the caucus and the application process, please refer to the attached flyer. Applications should be submitted through the D86 Facebook page by September 26th.

Bring the entire family to enjoy a fall day with races, food, music and activities. Your participation helps the Hinsdale Rotary Club and other organizations providing services in the western suburbs, including The Community House. Register for the race that’s right for you: Morgan Stanley 10K Run, Rooney 5K Run ,
Hinsdale Bank & Trust 3K Run , Molex 5K Walk, Mutt Strut or The Birches Walk and Roll. All events take place on Sunday, October 14, and start and end at The Community House.
