HMS will be celebrating Unity Day on October 19th! Unity Day is a day when everyone can come together and send one large ORANGE message of support to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
We ask all students to wear orange in support of Unity Day on October 19th. An orange HMS Unity Day shirt (t-shirt design HERE ) can be purchased at lunch for $10 during the week of Oct. 10th. Shirts can be paid for by cash or check (payable to HMS PTO) during lunch. Families can also prepay by Zelle to treasurer@hmspto.org. Zelle payments must be received by 10/8 and MUST state in the notes student’s name and grade. Shirts will be distributed at lunch during the week of 10/10. This is a great time to buy a shirt to wear each year when HMS celebrates Unity Day.
Student Council is collecting new socks for the homeless as part of Socktober. New socks can be dropped off in the bins by the atrium Oct. 2-27th. Socks are one of the most requested by people living in homeless shelters but least donated. Thank you for your generosity and helping to make Socktober a success!
To celebrate Unity Day, in addition to a special speaker sponsored by the PTO, there will be a Sock Hop with an All-School Mixer on Thursday, Oct. 19th from 3:30-5:30pm in the HMS cafetorium and gym. There will be a DJ, Photobooth, and snacks for sale (Page’s apple cinnamon donuts ($2), Skinny Pop ($1), and Izze drinks ($2)). Cash only will be accepted.
Students should wear orange and a favorite pair of socks at the Sock Hop!
For admission, we are asking students to bring in new socks to be donated to a local homeless shelter as part of Student Council’s Socktober.
We are looking for parent volunteers to sell shirts at lunch during the week of Oct. 10th. We also need volunteers to help sell snacks at the Sock Hop on Oct. 19th. Please sign up HERE.
