Scoreboard Charities Presents – Meet Me In Manhattan

Scoreboard Charities is an organization based out of Clarendon Hills that is dedicated to ending cancer. Each year they fund camping opportunities for children fighting the disease. They are hosting a fundraising event in our community on Thursday June 15th, 2023 at Ruth Lake Country Club from 7 to 10pm. Please see FLYER for more details on how to support this worthy cause and to purchase tickets.

The head of this organization does all D181 and D86 PTO taxes for no fee. The Exec Board has agreed to post details on their fundraising event coming up in June.

8th Grade Block Party Celebration, Volunteers Needed!

We have an epic celebration planned this year for our 8th graders beginning with an outdoor picnic lunch on the grass near the bus circle, followed by a block party on the HMS field.

The celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 31st. Students will attend class periods 1-4, followed by the picnic lunch from 12:30-1pm and the block party from 1-3pm.

Picnic: Students will have their choice of a Jimmy John’s sub sandwiches, chips, bottled water, and Andy’s frozen vanilla custard. Ingredients have been sent to parents in a separate email. Make sure your child has placed his/her order on a google form. The deadline is May 19th. All lunch volunteer slots (12:15-1:15pm) have been filled, THANK YOU!

Block Party: We have TONS of fun activities including a 75′ inflatable obstacle course competition, a basketball bungee run, water balloon dunk tank, cash cube prize attraction, caricaturists, a photo booth, lawn games, snacks, scavenger hunt for great prizes-including Hinsdale Central swag (alternatives for those attending other high schools)! We’re still looking for volunteers to help with the block party (12:30-3pm). Block party volunteer sign ups can be found here SUG.

LOST & FOUND

Parents, please remind your children to retrieve their lost items from the overflowing HMS lost and found locations. You are also welcome to come view the items in person. There are shelves and clothing racks outside the gymnasium with so many water bottles, lunch bags/boxes, as well as shoes, outerwear and other clothing. In the cabinets under the grade level cubbies in the main foyer entrance, books, pencil cases, personal school items, agendas, headphones, and much more are waiting to be claimed. We remind our students to check these areas during morning announcements often. All items will be donated at year end.

Wellness House Walk, 5/7

The HMS PTO would love for you to join us on May 7th at the Walk for Wellness House and to share our team link with others that might be interested in joining us as well. The entire family is welcome to sign up. There are 3k walk and 5k Walk/Run options. Each D181 school will have their own team and we would like to have the most participants including students, staff and families!

The HMS team will be walking in support of those in our community affected by cancer. For those that aren’t familiar with the Wellness House, they are in Hinsdale and provide support services to those living with cancer and their families/friends/caregivers free of charge.
