The Opioid Epidemic

Dear HMS Parents and Guardians,
We are partnering with Clarendon Hills Middle School and the D181 Foundation to invite you to an evening of education and conversation about a topic that is hitting close to home: “The Opioid Epidemic” in DuPage County. District 181 is happy to welcome leaders in the community to learn and discuss what we all can do together to support our youth and one another with this growing problem.

Presenters for the evening will include: (in following order)
Dr. Richard Jorgensen, DuPage County Coroner’s Office
Robert Berlin, DuPage County State’s Attorney
Tim Ryan, Nationally Acclaimed Addiction Expert and Recovery Advocate
Matthew Quinn, Clinician from Rosecrance Treatment Center

This evening will include information on the opioid epidemic in DuPage County, signs and symptoms of addiction, early intervention and prevention strategies, current local statistics, and what is being done to address this epidemic. Also, Tim Ryan will be sharing his personal story of addiction and
what he is doing now to combat this growing epidemic. Please see the attached flyer for more information on Tim Ryan. Robert Crown will also be on site sharing resources to parents.
