Remember how helpless you felt? Pass along your hard-earned insights….

When suddenly faced with your child’s emotional, developmental, learning or health problem, where did you turn to find treatment that worked? Please consider spending 5 minutes to share your hard-earned insights with another local parent by dropping an anonymous review into The Parent List by clicking HERE.

The Parent List contains first-hand insight from district 86, 181 and 63 parents about providers that helped address their child’s anxiety, depression, school avoidance, eating disorders, insomnia, peer relations, grief, stress, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum, and more.

Doctors, therapists, support groups, in- and out-patient programs, nutritionists, books, and holistic medical approaches may all be reviewed on The Parent List.

To read existing Parent List reviews of providers, go to hcpto.org/parent-list/

Questions can be emailed to: parentlist@hcpto.org

In no way does the Hinsdale Middle or Hinsdale Central High School PTOs or staff, school districts 86 or 181 endorse or recommend any specific provider reviewed on The Parent List. The Parent List is a subjective forum set up by the Hinsdale Central PTO for your convenience. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for deciding to use any of the service providers on The Parent List in any capacity, and school districts 86 and181 and the Hinsdale Middle and Hinsdale Central High School PTOs disclaim all liability for any damages, injuries, losses, expenses, or claims of any kind arising out of the provision of services by anyone or any agency appearing on The Parent List.

Nominating Committee Still Needed!!

The PTO is looking for parent volunteers to help with our nominating committee. Duties include coming up and discussing potential candidates to fill empty committee and executive board roles on the PTO 2023/2024 school year. Meeting are held for the remainder of this CURRENT school year. We are looking for parents who represent the different elementary schools in hopes to reach a variety of parents that may have not volunteered in the past. If you are interested in being part of the nominating committee, please reach out to Kristin Sweis at president@hmspto.org

8th Grade Graduation Celebration

Believe it or not, 8th grade graduation is already just around the corner! The 8th grade graduation committee is in the beginning stages of planning our 2023 celebration, and it’s going to be a great one! This year’s celebration will be held during the school day on Thursday, June 1, 2023 (the last full day of school for 8th graders) and will include an outdoor picnic lunch, followed by an epic block party on the HMS field. Attractions include a DJ, inflatables, outdoor games, prizes, caricaturists, a photo booth, body paint artists, tie dye station, tent, snacks and more! This party is funded solely by funds raised through families and local businesses. If you’d like to contribute, please click on  LINK  to make a donation from yourself or your business. Contact Sarah Bero at Graduation@hmspto.org if you’d prefer to send a check.

No donation is too small! Every dollar will help make this a very special celebration. As an example, $25/$50/$100 donations can be used for snacks, drinks and prizes. $300 (Bronze level) can be used for 1 of 4 caricaturists – or body paint artists – for the entire celebration (extremely popular in last year’s celebration). $500 (Silver level) might sponsor the DJ or tie dye station. $1000 (Gold level) could sponsor one of our anchor inflatables! $2500 will sponsor the tent that houses the volunteers and refreshments – and allows the celebration to go on rain or shine! Sponsors will be recognized in the graduation program and Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum level donations can be recognized in other ways as well. Please contact Sarah Bero at Graduation@hmspto.org for details. The HMS PTO is a 501c3 and your donation may have tax benefits.

If you’d prefer to donate time, we’re looking for 6-8 graduation committee volunteers to help with various aspects of the lunch, ceremony and celebration.

We appreciate your support!

Sincerely,
the 8th Grade Graduation Committee

WWII Day Artifacts Needed

The WWII Day Committee is looking for your personal, family artifacts from WWII. Letters, clothing, newspaper clippings, small equipment, photographs, gear … or whatever you have that will give the 8th graders more insight into what it was like to be a part of WWII (whether on the Homefront or abroad). All artifacts will be on display in the locked Cafetorium for an in-school field trip on March 10th.

Along with the artifact, we would also love a SHORT written “story” to accompany the item so the students understand more about what it is, who it came from and why it is significant.

Please contact Stephanie Konieczka with questions, comments or to organize dropping off your artifact. (Wwii@hmspto.org)
All artifacts must be received by February 28.
