6th Grade Back to School Day, Monday 8/17

Back-to-School Day August 17, 2020

Calling all 6th-grade students and parents – join us for Back-to-Schoool Day at HMS on Monday, August 17th. Students may sign up for a 45-minute time slot, during which time they will turn in their iPads (returning D181 students), receive their Google Chromebooks, and attend a brief orientation with Principal Ruben Pena. Afterward, students and parents will take a guided tour of the building. Students will not be receiving schedules or locker assignments at this time, so there is no need to bring school supplies or any materials other than their school-issued iPad.

Please sign up for your time slot using the signup below. Times start at 9am and the last sign-up is at 7pm. Due to restrictions on gatherings, we can only allow each student to attend with one parent/adult. Additional details about entrance and exit procedures will be communicated prior to the 17th. Be sure to check the weekly HMS PTO eblasts and communications for more information.

Thank You for an Unforgettable Year

As this unusual, but memorable, school year draws to a close, I would like to take a minute to thank everyone who chaired or volunteered on a PTO committee this past year, and especially our Executive Board members, who I was so honored to serve with this year. I am so grateful for your support and for the time you dedicated to enhancing the middle school experience for our students. An extra special thank you, as well, to our eblast editors for getting the news out each and every week to keep everyone informed and up to date. And many thanks to our HMS staff and teachers for all that they did to make this a wonderful year for our students, despite the unique challenges they faced along the way.
If you have a recent 8th grade graduate, congratulations, and best wishes in high school. To those of you with children starting their first year at HMS in the fall, we extend a warm welcome to your family and we look forward to seeing you, and all of our returning students, in the fall.
This will be our last eblast until we start back up at the end of July. In the meantime, please feel free to visit our website at www.hmspto.org for any information you might need. We look forward to seeing you at Back To School Day on Monday August 17th. Until then, best wishes for a fun, relaxing, and safe summer!

Karin Rohn
HMS PTO President
2019-2020

Congratulations 2020 Graduates!

Best wishes to all the 2020 Graduates!  In addition to the yard signs, commencement video, diploma handout, and teacher clap out, the PTO will also be sponsoring a 2020 Graduation Get Together later this summer once restrictions have been lifted.  This will be an informal gathering for the kids to meet up, sign each others’ yearbooks and reconnect. More details will be made available as plans are finalized.

Also, be on the lookout for a special ad for our grads in the June 4th edition of the Hinsdalean.

Please direct any questions to graduation@hmspto.org.  Congratulations to all our Graduates!

Please help! The Parent List Needs Fresh Reviews

DID YOUR CHILD NEED HELP for an emotional, developmental, learning, or health issue this past school year? Did you work with a provider that made a positive difference in your child’s well-being? Please consider posting an anonymous review of that provider on the Hinsdale Central High School PTO resource called The Parent List.

The submission of reviews is closed to D86, D181, and D63 parents only. Your fresh review of a resource that you have experienced a positive outcome using recently may help a child attending school with your own. The Parent List contains first-hand insight about health care providers +that have helped D86, D181, and D63 children with issues that include: anxiety; depression; school avoidance; eating disorders; insomnia; substance abuse; peer relations; stress; autism spectrum; ADD/ADHD and more. Doctors, therapists, support groups, in-patient and out-patient programs, tutors, nutritionists, books, and holistic medical approaches may all be reviewed. To leave an anonymous review click HERE. To read existing Parent List reviews, go to hcpto.org/parent-list/. Questions can be directed to parentlist@hcpto.org.

In no way does the Hinsdale Central PTO, Hinsdale Central High School staff, school districts 86, 63 or 181 endorse or recommend any specific provider reviewed on The Parent List. The Parent List is a subjective forum set up by the Hinsdale Central PTO for your convenience. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for deciding to use any of the service providers on The Parent List in any capacity, and district 86, district 63, district 181 and the Hinsdale CentralPTO disclaim all liability for any damages, injuries, losses, expenses, or claims of any kind arising out of the provision of services by anyone or any agency appearing on The Parent List.

Social Media Chair – We are looking for a committee chair to manage posts on the PTO’s Facebook page and other social media accounts, as needed.
